Okay so here's the first chapter. It's a bit short but I really wanted to update. In this chapter you'll find out if Josh has or hasn't changed. hope you like it! :)
"Hayley Williams," the teacher said, "You'll be partnered with Josh Farro."
Wait. Did I just hear that right? My lab partner is Josh Farro. I know that name very well. Geez. I didn't know he even lived here. I thought I'd never see him again. I did not see this coming. Of all the people in this room, of all the people in the world. Why did it have to be him? I mean nothing could be worse than having your childhood nemesis as your lab partner, right? Great. Now i have to work with that egoistic bastard. I guess chemistry is gonna be a nightmare for me this year.
I look for him in the room but saw no sign of him seeing that everybody was already at their tables and there was only one vacant table with two seats which are I guess mine and Josh's but it seems that he isn't here. Where is he? I walk over to that table and sat down. I put down my backpack and took out a notebook.
"Hey," I almost jumped when I heard that. I instictively turned my head to see him sitting next to me. He just came out of nowhere.
"Josh! You scared me." I exclaimed. Did he really have to make a grand entrance and scare the crap out of me? If that's what he was trying to do then it worked and he did it very well. Well I must say he looked more mature. Well duh, Hayley. Puberty. You've gone through that too. He had longish hair and he had the same brown eyes and that old smug smile he always wore. He was wearing skinnies, a black shirt and an ugly grey jacket. He had this sort of emo style. I still can't believe were in the same town and are in the same school. Plus we're partners. Why, God? Why?
"Gee. I never thought I'd meet you again." He said with his usual cocky tone. I guess his attitude hasn't changed.
"Neither did I, Josh. Neither did I. I wish I didn't have to." I said scribbling down on my notebook, copying the noes written on the board.
"Well, you'll have to deal with it. Because you and I, my friend, we're lab partners." That's great cause now I'll have to work with this freak and his big ego on working on lab reports. "I can't believe you're actually here. It's like fate."
"Could you shut up and give me a hand?" I said, setting up the lab equipment for the experiment. He nodded. He lit a match and just when he was about to light the bunsen burner I blew it out.
"We don't need that for this."
"Look. You're not gonna be disagreeable. Are you? Because Martin specifically promised me an agreeable partner."
"Martin?" I asked.
"The teacher." So he calls the teachers by their first names.
"He did? Josh I just moved here. He doesn't know me."
"You need to relax. We need to work this out."
"Actually I need to learn this."
"Because if you want to get into college and get a job you're gonna have to keep up your GPA." I answered. "So we need to fill this one with sodium sulfate-"
"Gotta keep up that GPA huh?" he cut me off.
"Well it's gonn a help if you wanna look for a job-"
"A job. Yeah, sure." he cuts me off one more time. "That's what everybody else dreams about. Sit there at your office and do all the same things over and over again everyday."
"Could you help me out please?"
"Okay, okay." he said. "But you know, you're about ten years into the future." he says as I set up the lab equipment. "We don't need chemistry." he lights up a match once again and lights the bunsen burner. "We need time travel."
The bunsen burner had a much bigger flame than it should. My eyes widened at the sight of it. That's it. I had to tell this to the teacher. I can't work with him.
After chemistry class I approached the teacher at the table in front of class. I told him how I couldn't work with Josh.
"Josh is actually pretty sharp when he applies himself." he says as if it was going to help.
"Okay," I tried to find the words to say I needed an new lab partner. "We kind of-"
"Lack chemistry?" he chuckled. He read my mind.
"Huh. Yeah." I fake laughed.
"Try to make it work." He simply said. "Okay?"
I nodded hesitantly. I made my way out the door but before I could Josh went to the teacher's or Martin's table as he calls him.
"About this Hayley Williams. Martin, she's a complete anal compulsive control freak. How do you expect me to work with that?" he spat. He said it loud enough for me to hear. As if he wanted me to hear it.
"I'm kidding. I'm kidding. We're pretty in shape." he cut him off. I stormed out of the room and waited for him outside. He stopped in his tracks when he saw me in his way. I gave him the death glare.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" I spat.
"Hmm. Who do you think I am?" he mimicked me with a smug smile and walked past me. By then I knew that he hasn't changed one bit. That asshole.
